On sale since 2014, the third generation Lexus IS is well overdue for a full model change

The next-generation IS may evolve into a full BEV model with 500 horsepower and 621 miles (1,000km) of range

A BEV IS sedan could serve as a halo model in Lexus’ transition to being fully electric by 2035

A new report from Best Car Japan indicates the next-generation Lexus IS may be a dramatic departure from what buyers have seen previously.
The Lexus IS has been one of the brand’s most enduring nameplates, but it’s also one of the most overdue for a full generational change. Originally launched in 2014, the current IS has soldiered on through a series of refreshes, most recently a significant facelift in for 2026 that brought minor updates to...

1000km range? Yeah, this is bs. Toyota ain't even close to having that kind of tech. They'll just make it fugly, put the same (ES, RZ...) battery/powertrain into it and let the marketing team do the heavy lifting.

Sucks because they once put a patent for this (not sure why Burlappcar put his watermark over these as if they're his to own). Now, I know it could be for the concept car when it came out, but they added side mirrors to it where the original concept never had them. So, it's a little fishy to me. They also patented this one, and I don't recall finding any others. Maybe, someone else on here knows?

No matter what, I think that Sport Sedan concept (or whatever it was called) will no longer exist. In fact, I think that whole family of concept cars they showed back in 2021 won't exist (I mean look at the ES that was teased in the back of it. We didn't even get that. We got something much worse).

Another sad news day for us Lexus "Enthusiasts"

It's increasingly clear that the all-BEV Lexus plan has not changed, just delayed. This is why they never publicly take back that claim while every other brand openly cancelled that.

I am ready to accept EV direction but why on Earth does it have to mean this awful interiors? RZ's front panel and both sterring wheel and yoke (apart from leather replaced by artificial materials) look like Lexus we've known for last 15 years and there's no reason it can't stay that way.

Will never accept a fully electric Lexus or other electric only car. Don´t work for me due to several reasons. Today only RX 450h and 500h is of interest for me. No more RC F or GS F and no more LC 500, not even LC 500h. Had them all. Loved them. New Toyota sports car to expensive, compared with all the mentioned. No real performance chargeable Lexus in sight either. For me, planning getting a new car in aprox. 2 years. Not sure Lexus or Toyota is going to be interesting after 30 years of only Lexus (and one Porsche, that I still are keeping). 🤔
