I've been crawling around Japanese patent and design filings lately.

I am not an expert so don't take any of my guesses seriously.

One thing i've noticed is that vehicles that are production vehicles have specific elements of their design separately filed.

For example,

Others are clearly concepts where no element / area / feature was separately filed:

What I find interesting are the ones that seem like concepts, but have specific treatments filed separately.

Brings me to this:
The 2017 "LS+" Concept
Lexus Premieres 'LS+ Concept' Flagship with Eye toward Application of Automated Driving Technologies in 2020

And this 2017 filing issued in 2018:

As well as these two:

They also offer additional visualizations:

For comparison, this thing (sadly) has no accompanying filings:

Just thought this might be interesting as people try to guess what the future of the LS could (or would've) look(ed) like.

I do think that car was going to happen, but market suddenly change to BEV’s killed it as a Lexus and turned into the Mirai:

Just look at those wheels, those C-pillars design… It’s basically there, you just need to change the front and rear bumpers and it’s the production version of it.

Crown Sedan is that car. Now the intriguing part are the powertrains.
