Given the time frame, I wonder.

I had been hearing pretty mature talk about what the LF* was going to be under the hood and it sounded quite far along by 2021.

I think that sport concept was Q1/2022, wasn't it?

Either way, this thing started off the back of a successful Lexus and got hijacked.

I think you are right about the latter part for sure - plans for new sports cars started as Lexus products and then one of them got hijacked and taken to GR, which we're about to see on Friday.

The Lexus Electric Sport Concept debuted in Dec 2021 as part of Lexus' 2030 electric announcement.

I believe there was a shorter term plan for the Lexus LFR to be what we're about to see as the GR GT, and a longer term plan to develop another LFA that would be BEV and arrive around 2029-2030. LFR was to be the final internal combustion Lexus sports car priced $225-275k for the mid 2020s to 2030, at which time the BEV LFA II would arrive as the next chapter of performance coinciding with Lexus' plan to be fully electric by 2030, and costing far more than the LFR.

A lot has changed, quickly. We'll see what Friday brings in terms of concrete news and announcements.

I far preferred Concept 1.

To me Concept 2 just looks too sports car-y and not super car-y like the original concept. I'm still questioning if Concept 2 is even the GT's platform because the proportions just look so off to me

Toyota has done a pretty interesting job of developing ICE/HEV and BEV on the same platforms... 👀

You think anyone is going to NOT give Akio Toyoda credit for the LFA?

You think anyone ACTUALLY knows how it got approved and what the motivations were?

If I am understanding what you are implying correctly...if you are implying that much of Toyota Motor Corporation's history of the last 25 years is based on lies, then what are you waiting for?

You have with rabid fervor criticized Toyota Motor Corporation's current leadership and executives as a bunch of unqualified yes men with low intelligence and no guts and no courage. If the past 25 years of TMC's history is based on lies, and you have bombshell information, then why aren't you exposing them?

You talk the talk, but now is a time for action, now is a time for truth and courage, so what are you waiting for? Are you waiting for TMC to destroy itself and take down Japan's economy with it? If you are sitting on this level of bombshell information, if the rot and corruption at TMC goes that deep, then the only way to fix and start to heal Toyota Motor Corporation is to expose this all. The only solution is transparency.

It's really not that deep. Akio Toyoda is a strong man leader that had his achievements and legacy but stayed past his prime years, and is now making mistakes like every strong man did.

Interestingly the press release for the LFA EV says absolutely nothing about solid state batteries like the LFR concept from 2021. Quietly giving up on that so they can actually put it into production?
