It’s gorgeous in person. Obviously this is a concept but definitely an original looking one. Maybe some 2000GT influence from the past? I’m not sure. Kevin Hunter the VP of Calty talked us through some of the process with Townsend Bell. I took a pic with Tom Matsumoto who is the lead designer of it. Nice guy. One gentleman said he thinks it’s 800k and ready to buy it. I think he will get a bargain lol.757F83E2-5E91-4A43-ACEF-BF36F5EBAB88.jpeg8FFFC3E0-94A7-4281-971F-D016995D5489.jpegC37C2B6F-4C83-414D-8812-463BC2842073.jpeg09F70824-8E1F-4AB9-B2C4-247C1E18B9EA.jpeg0C3DAE47-44CA-414C-9F3F-8CD3FD193E4F.jpeg2A3120D9-4AD4-48D0-B2D4-DBE4022A8304.jpeg4D2DD915-5637-4705-B438-830D798239DD.jpeg8038E930-F2AC-4A3E-90BF-2C14B8349291.jpeg14BA7D70-9138-401E-9209-2E5B23A8ACB1.jpeg

I really like the styling cues of this concept car. I think the overall shape is very reminiscent of the A80 Supra. I have read a number of comments and postings on various online platforms echoing the same sentiment, (in short: this is what the MK5 should have looked like). 😂

How much HP to expect? If this comes in 3 years, by then 1000 HP will be minimum. Tesla, Maserati, Dodge, BMW M, Lucide, "now has biggest" contest continues in BEV era, while most are waiting for an affordable 1000 km range 10 min rechargeable daily BEV.

This will come at the end of the 2020s, the LFA successor will come first. At least that's what all the leaks say

2028? Then it needs 2000 PS, because it will be again too little to late. Unlike the LFA, this one will not have the engine sound to redeem itself, and in the BEV world I doubt anything that can stand out compared to rivals other than styling (which is subjective) and reliability (which is objective but always fewer care about).

My guess is 800PS.

With full carbon body and solid state batteries it will weigh about 1600-1700kg. Toyota BEV powertrains have very high achievement ratios. It only needs 800PS to achieve the 2s 0-100km/h time. The LF-Z prototype needed only 540PS to achieve 3s 0-100km/h time in a 2100kg car.

Those 1000+PS BEVs need so much power because they are very very heavy. We know heavy cars can easily fall into the death spiral of ever increasing power and weight. I actually expect BEVs after 2025 to have less and less power as focus turn to weight reduction and improving achievement ratios.

Looking like Lexus is wanting to stand out here with this decision, obv. I think it's a cool take and I hope it pays off for all of the enthusiasts.

They should let you simulate other cars.
If it's faster than everything, why not emulate a Supra, or first generation this or that.
Could sit there and swap profiles and see how fast cars have gotten, how they sound, how they shift.

That would be really cool. They could partner with one of the big simulation games, Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport, for the profiles and sounds. I imagine it'd have to be limited to TMC vehicles though.

This car will bring so much tech:

Is this pure brake-by-wire? IIRC brake-by-wire has long been used on RX/LS hybrid and recently on LX600 (which is really weird) but they are electrically-actuated hydraulic brakes instead of pure brake-by-wire systems. I don't know if regulations around the world would even allow a braking system with no mechanical backup.
