Jezza said that he quite liked the RC F on the show before, but I wonder if he had driven the car yet during that time. Fingers crossed! I am sure that he will point out many positives.

I feel like he will like the RCF if he loved the LFA. Let's be honest for a second: the SC430 is a beautiful vehicle but Lexus stripped its performance orientated image away and turned it into a soft, luxurious convertible. The first generation was almost a legend for Lexus and then it was completely transformed instead of improved. I feel though that the comments on the RCF will be like the others: it's too heavy...it's not as fast as the M4 (even though its 0-60 was like a second shorter). Other than that, he should like it.

I find that ever since the LFA, he has had far less "hate" for Lexus vehicles he drove including the NX 300h, and in fact he has demonstrated he can be objective.

My guesstimate for the RC F:

Likes:
N-A V8 engine and deep sound
Ride
Interior/seats

Dislikes:
Torque
Track Handling
Styling

I think it will be on the negative side :( ...he hinted on this article when reviewing NX 300h (which he actually liked!):

"Only recently I tried the new RC F, which is a four-seat, two-door sports coupé priced and powered to compete with the BMW M4. And despite what my colleague said last week, it misses the target by about 217 miles, partly because it weighs more than the Atlantic Ocean and partly because you drive around everywhere in a wail of dreary understeer."

then he wont be the first one...its known that the RC-F is not the best in its category, but you will appreciate it if your looking for something more special than the germans...at least he likes the LF-A ....

It'll be interesting to see what he says! However, knowing his review style, I have a feeling it'll be a constant comparison to the M4.

There does seem to be a pattern on the majority of the RC F reviews mainly criticizing the cars weight and lack of track thrills, but on the road it redeems itself. What I actually would like to know is how many RC F owners would actually take their beloved RC F to the track wouldn't Caterham 7 or Ariel Atom be far more suited for that sort of thing? Completely pointless criticism imo. The majority of RC F owners will love the soundtrack of the V8 and the comfort of the cabin/seats and superb looks and most of all they are not in a "German car"! This is a segment that lends itself to being more about horsepower and fun factor than even the higher end one (GS F, E63 AMG, M5, etc).

The M3 had dominated for so long and Lexus tweaked its IS F year after year to make it a true competitor on and off the track. It will certainly do the same with RC F. But it won't come in the form of weight reduction or hp bump. It's a heavy vehicle, yes, but still more than powerful to tackle the track and still have a serene ride back home. And the M4, while having its pedigree speak for it, statistically will still have more problems due to how its built. Both will be linked together at all times and there is no getting around it.

I think Clarkson will admit the car isn't overpowering but it has sound, it has feel, it has fun, it has soul....soulful cars have faults....

My guess is that Clarkson's sentiment may follow Chris Harris'. Wants to love the car but can't.
