HELP: IS200 2002 awkward brake pedal problem

Recent Lexus owner. My foot keeps getting stuck under the brake pedal "rod" every time I'm using the clutch pedal. Previous owner told me that he just lived with it, but... no, just NO! WTF is wrong with that L-shaped brake pedal, why they did that and how to fix it? HOW? PLEASE!

BTW. My foot is normal sized and I never had that problem in my life.

The last time I drove a manual Lexus IS (mine was an IS 300) was 15 years ago, so my recollection is hazy. Still, I never recall any issues or problems with my foot getting stuck under the brake pedal rod when depressing the clutch. I ask myself a couple of questions: Does your IS 200 have the metal pedals most ISs of the era had? And is it left-hand-drive or right-hand-drive?
