I must say, this is at earliest a 2019 model year product or just discontinued. They should have committed to a new GX two years ago, so that it would be ready by 2017.

At this point, they took their time trying to make a business case and are forced to wait until 2018 to launch a new model. Does the new Land Cruiser 300 tie into this somehow, as well as the Prado 180?

Seems that Toyota is trying to align redesigns of their body on frame products into one calendar year (2018).

The GX needs a redesign. From owning one for the past 5 years and looking to buy a new one now, not much has been changed at all. Its also odd how the price is the same as it was when i bought it five years ago. I can clearly see the RX with the third row taking over for the current GX and those who want the bigger car getting the RX or looking elsewhere. The GX is not selling as it used to. Also, more people are going for the car platform for the SUVs as most companies are shifting that way. How often do you need the off-road capabilities of the GX that the RX cant handle?

It does need to be redesigned but it is selling very well. According to Gecko, they have probably made some recent changes and it will arrive in 2 years or disappear.

I agree with you (obviously)! RX-L is a great but utilitarian solution to the three row CUV market. It is, however, still an RX - a vehicle that's really a class below the X5, Range Rover, Cayenne, GLS, etc.

While I love the GX and want to see it survive for personal reasons, I really don't see how an RX-L could close the gap between a $42,000 RX and $89,000 LX. Theres a whole, huge segment that Lexus would be walking away from.

Was looking at the GX and almost bought but the small touch screen and overall design in and out are dated now.
Went with 2016 RX instead. Would trade for GX if it gets a next generation remake with body on frame and rear axle design. Drove the NX and was very disappointed.

The GX does serve in a odd position in the Lexus lineup. None of the other competitors still utilize a body-on-frame chassis. I just hope that the RX gets three rows.
