It’s really interesting how the wagon concept has stacked exhaust pipes similar to Lexus F. It would be epic on Genesis’s part if “magma” takes off with design cues taken from the now-extinct F products. Beautiful concept, but hurts to see what Lexus could have been.

After watching Genesis’s presentation and then looking back at Lexus, there’s really nothing but embarrassment. Lexus isn’t just “falling behind” anymore , it’s reached a point where it feels completely beyond saving. They have mid engine supercar, GV90 Wagon, all we have is bunch of weird EV concept🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

They’ve become exactly what we once hoped Lexus would be.
Kind of goes back to what I just talked about in the F thread about waste, but do you guys remember this thing? The little mid-engine Veloster from a few years ago that we all forgot about?

This is the reason the Magma GT exists. As silly of a project as it was, Hyundai didn't throw it away, they just brought it back under a prettier shell with a few more cylinders.

Hyundai moved on and we're still waiting on the N Vision 74

So this TTV8 is what will go inside the Magma GT? These are the power figures that should have been in the GR GT.

And interestingly it's not a hybrid:
1,100 hp, 850 lb-ft 6.7-liter V-8

Toyota: impossible! How are they going to pass emissions with that much power?

They're already taking limited production orders for the Skorpio in the Middle East.

Even though this is being sold in small numbers for now, it's a warning shot to everyone else that the TTV8 is production-ready and will soon be mass-produced. I'm curious about whether the tubular space frame will also be applied to future models.

G80 Magma is also on sale in the Middle East in limited quantities. They're probably going to put on some hybridization before selling it globally. Or maybe they plan to drop the V8 in it.

Interesting theory but spotty research. Hyundai has had its own mid-engine chassis dating back to the days of the RM concept and the TTV8 is yanked from their new Le Mans hypercar. Denying that both of those exist is laughably ignorant. I have no doubt that they did benchmark the C8 though with the Magma GT.

As for the Skorpio, it's already taken for sale orders so I highly doubt they would sell another vehicle rebadged from another brand, especially when said brand in that article is unaware of it.

EDIT: Coincidental timing. They're launching another bespoke platform next year:

Genesis will introduce a new, bespoke platform next year, as part of a move to make its cars more distinct to drive and cement its positioning as a stand-alone premium brand.

The new platform, which will be compatible with electric and hybrid drivetrains, is described as completely different from the Hyundai group architectures it currently uses in its cars: the E-GMP skateboard for EVs that is underneath the GV60 crossover and the flexible M3 architecture that underpins its other models.
I don't think this will be the same EM platform that will be in the GV90 because that was EV only, and will also be used across newer Hyundai EV's.

Genesis seems to have seen through all of this, they’ve clearly learned something from what they view as Lexus being a failed luxury brand at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised if more and more Lexus owners end up switching to them.
