Tesla costs the least; German brands the most, in CR’s exclusive analysis

the cost of owning a pure ev was suppose to be signficiantly lower due to fewer moving parts etc, yet the most reliable non ice brand only costs $900 over 10years....smh

Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, and BMW shops do tend to cost an arm and a leg for repairs and service.

No way 900$ in 10 years. That is 2 sets of (four) tires in 10 years.

if im reading the graph correctly 5 year delta is $320, while 10 year delta is about $900.
I dumb read. Indeed, 900 is difference in 10 years between Tesla and Toyota. BEV reliability maintenance advantage is a myth compared to ICEV. The only gain is in fuel savings, which again is only valid for high powered performance cars. That is why I think an electric Lotus, Cayman or Alpine can be interesting cars (for me) if they keep low weight.

$900 is 5-year cost; $4035 is 10-year cost. These numbers for Tesla.
My mistake: For Tesla, the cost for the first 5 years is $580, the cost for the next 5 years (years 6 to 10) is $3455, for a total 10-year cost of $4035.
