Ha, I just read this yesterday, as well as the 1995 article with the 2nd gen LS. It's so incredible seeing how dominant the LS used to be, beating the European brands 2 generations in a row not just in price, but comfort, performance, quality, almost every metric damn near. Oh how Lexus has fallen.
