I've been a long time BMW fan, but I don't even know wth is their line up currently even is. Some weird i-whatever models, not sure if they are all electric or hybrid anymore, some weird ugly ix and xm models, whatever they may be. Can't stand their current styling inside or out.
That being said, their V8 drivetrains are great, at least in the non hybrid form. I still have my 2012 X5 V8 that I bought new, and my wife had a 2017 X6M and her current 2021 X6M. The engines improved with every generation, but the biggest improvement is the transmission. In my X5 the X5 is relatively laggy, and in her old X6M it was just as laggy - not sure if it was a DCT or 8 speed. The 8 speed in her current X6M shifts instantly, almost telepathic.
I haven't driven any of their hybrid cars, but many are saying they are a step backward. I know current M5 has worse power to weight ration vs the previous model. And I absolutely hate the interior, the ridiculous lgbt lighting all over, and monitors with ugly graphics. The biggest turn off in my wifes car are the graphics of the digital gauges. Not sure we'll be staying with BMW when its time for new cars.
