Yea, but what's confusing to me is everyone is assuming it'll be the 348hp tune in the base tundra, but the naming doesn't make sense. How will GX550 have 348hp and 405lb-ft but the LS500 has 416hp and 442lb-ft. It makes me wonder.
Well, after Lexus gave the LX the 600 moniker, despite having a "relatively" similar tune to the LS 500, I have no idea what power range the 550 moniker would put the GX in. If we look at just the 500 number in Lexus vehicles, it ranges anywhere from a 2.4L I4 turbo hybrid with 370 HP to a 5.0L V8 with 472 HP, so this is really anyone's guess

To be fair, the GX with base Tundra tune running premium fuel probably gets you to 368-370hp. LX gains 20hp over the Tundra with the same tune just running premium fuel.
370hp/420lb-ft for a GX550 sounds healthy. Give it a 10-speed, 300lb diet, and less compromises. Next gen sales are inevitably going to drop with the TX arrival, so they should be able to go a bit more niche/segment focused instead of trying to cover the soccer mom crowd.

Lexus really has done some strange things with naming. I too am expecting "GX 550" to be the 348hp tune of the V35A-FTS, but your point about that being significantly less power than the LS 500's 416hp is a good one.

It feels to me like it should be:

Tundra "SR" 348hp tune of the V35A-FTS should be "400" = GX 400
LS 500's 416hp tune should be "450" = LS 450
LX 600's 409hp tune should be "500" = LX 500
V35A FTS + hybrid should be "600h" = LS 600h, LX 600h

But, alas, Lexus wants their naming to keep up with the Germans when they truly don't have the same firepower.

R&D guy: "Hey, we should probably name this next gen GX the GX400."
Product planning guy: 1654607653111.pngDon't be crazy, there's a GLS 580 sitting out there somewhere.

"Oh we will just start naming our 4 and 6cyl cars like everyone else's 8cyl cars and people won't know the difference!"

Well Audi calls their 367hp V6 a "55" so maybe their inspiration comes from Audi.

They should have kept their old 60kW(80hp)/L rule with all products for consistency. 240hp=300, 280hp=350, 320hp=400, 360hp=450, 400hp=500, 450hp=550.

You know its absolute trash reporting, when others Hypebeasts are chiming in the comments and saying that your information is fake news.

I know exactly whose stirring the pot on this information, as they posted on several social media platforms with this exact misinformation. They even tried to gussy up the validity of their claims by including Carmaker.

Their is some actual new information on the GX, and I'll hold judgement until its verified.

Before the GX, Toyota should show the Prado.

I wonder if they'll do the same prado trim changes for My23 on the My23 GX. Dual tone interior seats are new addition. Blackline GX and Prado are sharing quite some cosmetic items, and folks are fighting to buy a Blackline over a similarly equipped Premium (my 2 cents is the smart move is jumping into a premium plus if you cant get the luxo, but I get eye candy fogs decisions) .

actually I thought that at first, but it's the TX because either in the RX or RZ video they show a crossover as the "RZ" but it was a mule and it was this crossover with the front end. They used the TX550H+ as a mule for the RZ. And in Dec 2020, they showed an ES with a crossover which was the TX550h+.
"RZ" Which is TX front end. From an RZ video

TX550h+ with more covering. From Dec 2020 direct 4

Point being I doubt they would test the GX with e-axle/direct 4. This crossover is the TX
