It is still front engine and not mid front. IS can’t come soon enough.

IS is less mid front than BMW, but this A5 is not based on RWD Panamera/Bentley, but still Subaru style AWD.

Neither IS nor BMW are mid front their engines sit on top of the front axles.

Audis is slightly ahead of the front axle, but is still longitudinally mounted and the AWD-system gas a 40:60 rear bias.

Lower end A3 and Q3 are transverse mounted front-biased AWD

This is pretty underwhelming. The spy shots were more interesting than the production car turned out to be, and the talk of dropping "A4" in favor of "A5" seems short sighted and strange. A4 is one of Audi's longest longest running nameplates (30 years) and to drop it for a new naming convention between ICE and EV vehicles seems like an unnecessary decision.

The entire design is predictable and kind of late 2000s instead of "new for 2025." Everything, including the interior, looks very generic. It strikes me as what a next-gen Ford Fusion would have looked like if they didn't discontinue it.

Yeah interior is not great. This is the vegan interior that won't be offered in the US market, leather will be standard here... When the official debut happens later tomorrow I'll post the newer pictures, hopefully some with lighter colour interiors. Seems like all the Germans are cost cutting the interiors heavily right now :(

I do love the exterior though, the proportions and body surfacing is great. Audi has always been a form of evolutionary design language, but at least this looks notably different from the B9, while the B9 didn't move the bar enough compared to B8.

Also A5 currently outsells the A4 in the US, so at least in the US the A5 name does have some cachet.

I agree. The exterior is absolute perfection. But the interior... the passenger screen looks really bad.

I like the side profile but I do love the A6. It’s now rounded like it. Interior is so predictable with screens.

Seems we won’t get the wagon here. And no more coupe or convertible which means Audi sellls no more coupes so they are another crossover only snoozefest. Enjoy 600hp SUVs..

smh

The only coupes in the entire VW Group are the 911 and 718. That's insanity.

  • Audi Design redefines the Sedan and makes the Avant even more attractive
  • Technology meets comfort in the interior with new electronic architecture
  • First combustion-engine version to enable partially electric driving thanks to drivetrains with MHEV plus technology
  • Gernot Döllner, CEO of Audi: "The new A5 shines with its sporty design, new interior and modern electronic architecture. It also marks the launch of our new generation of efficient combustion engines"

It does look like an updated Ford Mondeo. No matter, BMW’s look like Kia’s now.

Auditography is reporting the interior build quality feels much better than the Q6 e-Tron despite the similar layout.
