I personally think the exterior is pretty nice - there is some nice detailing for such a small and inexpensive vehicle. The front end is rather large, but such is life in the SUV era, and Toyota is going to have to try to offset the "Corolla" name to make it seem more macho.

All of those buys CUVs/SUVs for reason or another

Women any age
Mothers
Parents for there own teenaged son's & daughters
Men over 60
Married men from 20 to 60 mostly now buying CUV/SUV

All other body types can be only bought by Men from age 20 to age 60 depending on their own role in their respective families

Most will buy CUV/SUV because there is so little left on the dealer lots, certainly no mass-market station wagons (and I do agree that crossovers are fat station wagons on stilts and further dressed up to look butch).

I would like to buy a station wagon (not a higher-riding, high-fuel-consuming CUV) but there is nothing available.

And by that I just mean EU. We already know China will not get the Corolla Cross from leaked codenames. Plus here we'd rather prefer that Corolla LWB sedan instead of another crossover. But C-HR is sold as a premium product here and is priced well above other subcompact crossovers, so there is indeed a hole in the sub-￥150k segment.

The Corolla LWB will get a 2800mm wheelbase so it will match or even exceed the Camry in interior space (rear legroom will be 38-39 inches!). Will Lexus make a rebadge/HS revival based on Corolla LWB to fill the 200-300k segment? With CT gone and UX moving into 300k they now have no entry-level product.

According to an article on The Drive, Corolla Cross trademarks have been filed in Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Cambodia, New Zealand, Australia, Chile, Mexico, the United States, Canada, Italy and a blanket filing in the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Presumably Thailand as well, where the first Corolla Crosses will be manufactured.

In other words, Corolla Cross is primarily aimed at the ASEAN countries, Oceania, the Americas and Europe. This seemingly further confirms @ssun30 's comment that Corolla Cross will not be offered in China.

Plus here we'd rather prefer that Corolla LWB sedan instead of another crossover. But C-HR is sold as a premium product here and is priced well above other subcompact crossovers, so there is indeed a hole in the sub-￥150k segment.

A revived HS based on a LWB Corolla is a pretty intriguing notion. In spite of the first HS's failure in North America, a new and improved one to take on Audi A3 and Mercedes A-Class sedans, plus the new BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe makes sense to compete in this somewhat popular segment. Then again, Lexus might be perfectly willing to make this a China-only product (see LM).

In August 2018, Toyota registered the "corolla cross" trademark in China. Considering that GAC Toyota and FAW Toyota both aim to increase sales and production capacity to one million by 2022. I don't think they will give up importing this car. C-HR and Izoa are too personalized for some consumers, especially the rear window is too small, which makes the rear view not wide enough. Considering that Harrier has been confirmed to be imported into China, such a SUV with similar price but different style with RAV4 can attract more customers to buy Toyota. Similarly, the combination of Corolla / Levin cross and C-HR / Izoa can give consumers more choices. In this way, they can achieve faster sales growth in China.
Of course, more codenames have been made public this year. FAW Toyota claims that they have 10 new models in preparation for production. These ten models may be: 845b, 770b, 941b, 891b, 822b, 875b, 978b, 812b, 01 * D, 03 * D.

It would be a perfect addition IMO, even more now that IS should be going away from Europe!
Now, if current Corolla Sedan has an amazing rear seat space, a LWB would beat everything even from the segment above!
And given the wheelbase, it would be a perfect candidate for a PHEV or even a BEV powertrain, let’s hope it happens!

No specific information has been disclosed about 891B and 892B. I only know that they are (GA) C-SUV. Of course, I originally guessed that these two are corolla cross, because there is no sign of mass production of the other two concept cars of C platform, TJ cruiser and FT-4X.
In addition, the name of corolla with long wheelbase(875B) may be "Allion", because Toyota registered a Chinese name “傲澜”in 2018. This Chinese pronunciation is very similar to "Allion". Consider the relationship between corolla and Allion in Japan, the adoption of the name is very likely.

Makes all the sense in the world.

Let me post some history and background here. In December 2001, Toyota replaced its Carina and Corona-badged sedans with Allion and Premio near-identical twins that filled a perceived gap between its Corolla and Camry lines. Allion and Premio were also viewed as a Japan-only more conservative alternative to the more Europe-oriented Avensis (both shared the same MC platform and 2700mm wheelbase).

Around the same time, Corollas sold in most markets outside Japan started a sizable growth spurt that was counter to the JDM's desire to keep Corolla as a traditional "5-number small size" vehicle (less than 4.7 m [15.4 ft] long, 1.7 m [5.6 ft)]wide, 2 m [6.6 ft] high) subject to lower annual tax rates. This led to the 2006 10th-generation Corolla splitting into more distinct Japanese (E140 narrow-body) and International (E140 wide-body/E150) variants, a move which helped justify Allion/Premio's role in the JDM lineup as a larger "3-number normal size" vehicle.

The 2nd-generation Allion/Premio twins debuted in June 2007 and, like the 3rd-generation Sienna and numerous Toyota body-on-frame trucks and SUVs, remains in production for over a decade with just a couple of mid-life facelifts to keep it going. With the new convergence between Japanese and International Corollas for the 12th-generation at virtually the same size as the aging Allion and Premio, I wouldn't be surprised if they just disappear any time now from the Japanese lineup without replacement.

The Chinese market, meanwhile, has both GAC and FAW Toyota "networks" to feed. Just as the Levin name used to designate certain Japanese Corollas between 1972 and 2000 was brought back in China in 2015 for GAC's Corolla, I could see not only Allion (a portmanteau of all-in-one) but Premio (Spanish, Portuguese and Italian for prize) badging being used for GAC and FAW variants of the long-wheelbase Corollas.

891B is rumored to be FAW's Corolla Cross. But the media are just speculating and actually know no more than @shizhi. Previously it was suspected it is the Sienna, but the codename of that is actually 01*D.

@shizhi I think it would be really helpful if you make a thread dedicated to tracking Toyota's program codes. I'm losing track of them all the time.

New Allion as the 875B Corolla LWB makes perfect sense to me. Something to bridge the noticeable gap between Corolla and Avalon is definitely necessary on the FAW side. On the GAC side? Do we see a similar move there?

The FT Corolla 1.8L hybrid will be replaced by the 1.5L hybrid from the Yaris as a low cost option. The 2.0L hybrid will be the higher end option and will be the standard powertrain for the Corolla LWB.

Very interesting idea. If such a lexus sedan really comes to the Chinese market. Then the layout of lexus in China will be more reasonable. ES does not have to continue to sell the controversial es200 for sales. This power is just right for new cars. The es260 can lower the price as a compensation.
