Strong competition to keep these big companies on their toes is a good thing. Unfortunately, Toyota's main competitors are barely putting up a fight and the German brands still refuse to adopt the Toyota style series-parallel hybrid system, like imagine BMW's B58 paired with this type of hybrid system, high spec motors, batteries and the right tuning, the performance and efficiency would be stupendous.

Looking back at the original 5LS technical review, I realize Lexus never intended for this car to be able to fit anything other than a V6. The engine is almost touching the hood and it would be impossible to fit a V8/I6 in there. The 100mm super long stroke design and top-mounted twin intercoolers made the V35 very tall. The super-undersquare (~1.2:1 stroke:bore) design has proven to be a mistake and the industry is moving back to almost square designs (with mildly undersquare 84.0 x 90.0 being the "golden ratio" for 500cc/cylinder designs).

The LC500 needed a very long nose to fit the 2UR.
