Akio Toyoda is the kind of strong man leader who couldn't let go of their power and ambition after passing his peak years.
If he retired in 2022 and not toyed around with his "Make Toyota Great Again" rebranding experiment, he would have left a legacy with nothing but positive. Toyota is already the greatest car brand in the world, it doesn't need to be great again.
I’ve been saying this for YEARS. They should’ve dropped something like an LS GT or LS Gran Coupe ages ago. Just copy the damn Taycan/Panamera like c'mon...what are they even waiting for? Porsche did not have traditional 4-door sedan and they’re still selling. Okay yes, sedan market is shrinking, but BMW and Merc still sell theirs just fine. So who’s to blame here? 🤷♂️ I mean I get what they were trying to go for that sleek coupe silhouette (NGL, the pre-facelift front end was sharp!
) but dude, you can’t have that and still pretend you’re competing with proper sedans.
You’re trying to be sporty, but it’s nowhere near Porsche. Then you try to go back to the root and go for comfort? Sure, the facelift helped a bit, but the damage is already done. And where the hell is your V8? The Germans have theirs, you don’t. And to make things worse, your twin-turbo V6 isn’t even remotely as refined as theirs. What about the tech? Total afterthought...don’t even wanna get into it. You know why this thing dies? Because it has no clue what it wants to be. Tries to be everything, ends up achieving nothing.
We all know what the problem is. They just pretend they don’t. Either they’re clueless or just straight-up don’t care.
