Conclusion of the video is the engine is bad, that is what is mainly wrong with it. And Toyota wants to replace it with another smaller displacement 4 cylinder? They need a new V6 or I6.

Not that I disagree with the Land Cruiser needing 6 cylinders (TRD PRO?) but I think the 2.4T is clearly not Toyota's best work, whereas they seem very proud of this new family of 4-cylinders. Time will tell.

Really well done, and he makes a great point with "effortlessness" being a key part of the Land Cruiser experience. 80 Series, 100 Series, 200 Series all had that "carved out of granite, over engineered, the best quality" feeling and while none were fast, those engines were smooth as butter, sounded great, and made the entire experience feel... Land Cruiser.

I don't think the 2.4T was the best choice for the Land Cruiser... it deserves a V6. It's fine for the Tacoma and 4Runner as lower priced vehicles, but for the traditional Land Cruiser buyer, it's a major downgrade. Significantly worse NVH is maybe the worst part of all considering the legacy Land Cruiser experience.

It is called Landcruiser in NA, but it is a Prado. Prado never had I6 and V8, except in the GX.

That video does a pretty good job of quantifying the things that don't show up on the spec sheet. Should I decide to get back into an SUV at the end of my BEV lease, I'll either go lower trim 4Runner (OR or Sport) or yolo to a non-premium LC. I liked having a 5th gen Pro, but it was all a bit too loud versus the more subtle Land Cruiser. When I was riding in my brother's before riding the GAP, the ride quality really drove home the near Lexus feel versus just being a nice Toyota.

Why would they file Landcruiser Prado in US? Are they planning to bring back the LC300?
