The gen1 Xb was one of a kind I guess. I bought one in 2004 (manual) for a family member, she still has it. Her mechanic will gladly buy it if she wants to upgrade. My Mercedes inde master tech uses a gen1 Xb for his shop as a parts runner car.

That's probably a testimony to both the car's reliability and its nice cargo room/space efficiency inside for carrying things.

Exactly on both points, the back seat is always folded down for carrying bulky things in cardboard boxes.

(As long as he doesn't give it to me as my next loaner, jk):)

Its rare that a car comes after the originator and just kills it but that Kia Soul did just that....They nailed the car and the marketing.....I can't remember the last time I've seen any advertising for the xB.....

What they really nailed was the Soul's price....at least at first. My brother bought one in 2010, with the Exclaim (!) package, for somewhere between 17 and 18K (don't remember exactly). That version came with not only more and nicer equipment than the base model, but also included the 10/100 and 5/60 warranties. At the time, it significantly undercut the xB's price, and the fact that all xBs, because of Scion's sales-policy, sold for full-list, while you could bargain on a Kia product.

However, both Kia and Hyundai prices have gone up significantly in the last few years, and the Soul, today, though much-improved in refinement and road-manners over the original versions, is not quite the bargain it once was. Still, it outsells the xB (from the figures I've seen ) some five to one.

Of course many parts are delivered. But the MB dealership is a few blocks away for quick turn on parts.

Yes, except I will request to drive one of his personal AMG cars for the run, I gladly will do it. :D

My gardener has a inde Toyota mechanic for his small fleet of Toyota trucks, he has done parts runs, but that mechanic will fix his work truck(s) right away w/o appointment (not cheap). So it happens...
