Really enjoyed Dan Neil's review of the Mercedes-Maybach S600:

OD-BF277_RUMBLE_M_20150205123044.jpg

I hate to generalize, and God knows there are exceptions, but I believe a high percentage of people who own this car will be pompous windbags. I mean, really, how scary does your town car have to be? Imagine it’s 9:30 a.m. on a weekday, you are headed south on the 101, palm trees fanning, and you see a Rolls-Royce Phantom or a Bentley Flying Spur. You think, Hey player, whaddup Mariah…. You see this car in the rearview and you think you’re being followed by Vladimir Putin.

Now, the new car is absolutely a gussied-up S-class, which just goes to show why I was never smart enough to work in product planning.

The newly minted Mercedes-Maybach is a “subbrand” equal to the AMG performance division. Maybachs will be knocked together on the S-class line in Sindelfingen. A company insider told me the next Maybach to break cover will be the Pullman limousine (three-row, six-passenger-seating and 21 feet long). Then the countdown begins for the almost inevitable Mercedes-Maybach SUV.

We had one stop by yesterday and that was the general thought.."oh its a S-Class"..there seemed to be quite a bit of confusion about it now basically being almost a trim level...The interior is nearly identical to an S-class executive but the rear is far more spacious and the rear carpet is something I will never forget. It was so plush I felt bad stepping on it lol...

That V-12 tho....

I sat in one at the Detroit Auto Show, and was pretty taken with it. Did feel completely ridiculous though.

@LexFather, did you take it for a spin?

The new Maybach is an incredible car. But i'd be very content with even a regular S550 sport package of course.

Mercedes S560e Plug-In Hybrid Coming To U.S. Mid-2019 [31 Pics]

After unveiling the S560e Sedan at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes have announced that their new luxury plug-in hybrid is expected to go on sale in the U.S. in 2019.
ECO Assist, as well as the extended pre-entry climate control, which allows the driver to modify the temperature inside the car via an app. ECO Assist on the other hand displays driving recommendations and continuously generates coasting simulations in the background.

With the S560e now replacing the older S550e, it joins the rest of the Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrid U.S. range, which includes the C350e Sedan, GLE550e, GLC350e. Globally, Mercedes also offers the C350e Estate and long-wheelbase model, GLC350e Coupe and the E350e Sedan.
