Four Lexus Models Awarded Top Safety Pick + from IIHS

The Lexus CT, RC, ES, and NX have been named to the Top Safety Pick + list from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The criteria for Top Safety Pick status has been updated, and vehicles must now score a Good rating in the small overlap front test along with the moderate overlap front crash, side crash, roof strength, and head restraint tests.

Additionally, the Top Safety Pick+ designation means a vehicle must meet the above standards and also have, as standard or optional equipment, a frontal collision autobraking system that scores as Advanced or Superior.

Surprising to see the overwhelming majority of top safety vehicles are Japanese, then German/Korean/Swedish, and distant last is American.Also a big surprise and really an incredible feat is the CT considering it's long-in-the-tooth 2011 bones. MY' 2017 will be even better!
