Lexus Scales Back Production As China Sales Drop

Lexus is scaling back vehicle production due to falling demand because of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak in China.

Output will be cut about 6 percent from the projected levels at the company’s plants in Fukuoka and Aichi prefectures, amounting to 1,000-2,000 fewer Lexus vehicles built.

The Toyota brand has seen sales in China plummet 70% this year, to just 23,800 units overall. Lexus sold approximately 202,000 units in China last year.
