Lexus Set for Twelve Hours of Sebring Race in Florida

Lexus and AIM Vasser Sullivan (AVS) Racing are gearing up for the 2019 season second round of IMSA GTD racing at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in central Florida on Saturday 16 March starting at 10:40 AM.

Given the race’s extended length (second only to the season-opening 24 Hours of Daytona), a third driver has been recruited for each of the two Lexus RC F GT3 racers. Full-season drivers Townsend Bell and Frankie Montecalvo will team up in the No. 12 Lexus with two-time Indy Lights race winner Aaron Telitz; while the No. 14 Lexus will see full-season drivers Jack Hawksworth and Richard Heistand joined by Philipp Frommenwiler.

Lexus RC F Racing

Lexus currently ranks second in the IMSA GTD manufacturer point standings following top-five finishes for both AIM Vasser Sullivan RC F GT3 entries in the first round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at Daytona. The AVS No. 12 team currently ranks second in the GTD driver and team championship points, while the AVS No. 14 team sits fifth in the standings.

Diehard Toyota and Lexus motorsports enthusiasts with lots of stamina and little need for sleep should note that the 12 Hours of Sebring is actually the second of two events comprising the so-called SuperSebring Weekend, which will also see the Toyota TS050 LMP1 racers compete in the 6th round of the FIA World Endurance Championship’s 2018-2019 “super season”. The “1000 Miles of Sebring” will take place on Friday 15 March from 4 PM to Midnight.

More information, including U.S. telecast scheduling is included in a Lexus USA Newsroom release.

Next up is Petit Le Mans here in Atlanta next month. I'm hoping something cool happens :)
I'll be with Lexus Racing at Petit Le Mans. If you have a LFA/LC/IS F/GS F/RC F and would like to attend send me a message. I would love to give a couple of involved LE members a pass to attend :)
Hi everyone. I have one VIP Pass to offer a Lexus Enthusiast F/LC 500 owner. Held in Atlanta, Petit LeMans is the historic race going on Saturday but the pass gives you access Friday and Thursday as well. On Friday and Saturday, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are served as refreshments all day and VIP goodies.

I am specifically looking for one hardcore F/LC 500 owner to join us! We already have a group of 10 F owners coming together.

You can DM me here or email me at mikeforsythe13@gmail.com. Thank you!

Flashing back a bit to November 24, Autoweek's Matt Weaver wrote an informative background piece on the Gentilozzi 3GT-to-AIM Vasser Sullivan IMSA team transition:

Is Toyota and Lexus going to eventually implement these improvements and technology to their road cars? I'm especially interested into what they do to their engines.
