Video: Lexus RC 200t & LFA Code-X Race Cars Testing on Nürburgring

The Lexus LFA Code-X & RC F SPORT will be racing in this year’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring, and this week, both cars were spotted testing on the course:

This wouldn’t be a surprise by itself, but Nürburgring watcher Bridge to Gantry reports the RC will be racing under the SP3T class, which is limited to 2.0L turbo engines — in other words, this is the first confirmed appearance of the RC 200t F SPORT.

Lexus is taking the upcoming 24 Hours of Nürburgring very seriously, renting the entire course and flag marshalls for these laps with the RC F SPORT & LFA Code-X.)

The Lexus RC, despite being heavier, is so much more of a sports car than the 4 Series/M4. Shame on BMW. As for the LFA, hope that that engine lives on till its successor. It is the best engine ever.

The new Code X V10 sounds like a monster. Although, it seems to make so much midrange torque, the driver does not seem to be as aggressively downshifting in the corners to power out. Could be just that the driver is only casually doing a "strolling" lap.

Indeed. Might not be the most powerful, but definitely the best engine ever made.

Will that really be the next LFA? Test mule?

But as far as I know the LF LC(SC F) will definitely have a 5.0V8TT engine. I still wonder why Lexus use a 5.3V10 na on code X.

What a pity if Lexus not make a LFA successor. They really need something special that always on top of the mountain . For Lexus , ten years as one generation is fine. I hope I can see the new LFA before 2020.

LF LC (SC) is made for mass production. It won't use that much expensive CF body. People from Lexus claim that we couldnt see a new LFA anytime soon. Pity but any possible for LFA2 to use the 5.3V10+ electric motor? You see codex has the V10 and CF body and TS040 has the hybrid. No problem for tech but maybe sense.

The other thing -- maybe Lexus just feels confident this is a car that can win races? Maybe it has nothing to do with any immediate development.
