Photoshop: Experimenting with the Lexus Teaser Image

One of the funnest things about automotive teasers is trying to pull something unexpected from the image, and that’s what reader Michael Pannone did with the Lexus photo from yesterday (click for a larger image):

Lexus GS F Photochop

Flipping the original image and photoshopping a mesh grille from the RC F to fill in the gaps, Michael was able to create a reasonable representation of what Lexus might reveal at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

This could be an NX F. I base this off of the front profile of the GS's A section. Logically, This has NX styled headlights w/ L-finesse LEDs that are shortened to incorporate a larger spindle grille. MOST IMPORTANTLY: Look at the distance AFT of the front wheel well where the fender vents are styled. It's very short, even though it is presented at a 3/4's angle, it is considerably shorter than what you would see on the RC F at this same angle. [Recall the RC F uses the GS front, so the distance would be the same, wouldn't it?] And if you study the NX's profile, it is just as short in the A section, just as this picture shows. Does anyone see this as well?

Nah, not an NX F for sure, but clearly all details point to the GS F. The NX's front overhang is notably longer, hoodline is cut into the side of the fender, bumper height is taller, the triple L LED headlights housing curves differently... The GS's front overhang is much shorter than the NX's and in line with the teaser image above. The GS is also due for a mid-cycle refresh for a full spindle grill and updated headlamps.
