Lexus RC F Convertible Announced at Dealer Meeting?

Autoguide is reporting that an RC F convertible was announced at the Lexus USA National Dealer Meeting in Los Angeles this month:

News of the new model was announced at the recent Lexus USA National Dealer Meeting in Los Angeles where the brand also celebrated its 25th anniversary a source, who wishes to remain anonymous, has revealed to AutoGuide.

There was apparently no mention of a standard RC convertible, but such a model seems like a safe bet if this rumor is indeed correct.

Autoguide also reports that the GS F high-performance sedan was confirmed at the dealer meeting:

In addition, Lexus confirmed a GS F model is on its way, with styling borrowed from the RC F, as well as the car’s signature tailpipes. That model is expected to make use of the same 5.0-liter V8 engine with close to 500 hp.

(Worth pointing out that the above rendering is from photchopper X-Tomi, and not an official photo of the RC F convertible.)

Close to 500hp? That's gonna be the rival for the s6 not the e63 and m5.

That's less than what the LAST generation M5 packed. This is not the way to enter this segment, which is every bit about numbers and bragging rights as it is about trackday fun. Also keep in mind that Lexus is the upstart challenger here and should not only match the Germans but beat them in order to build credibility for the F brand.

I was expecting to hear at least 560hp, but almost 500 is very disappointing. I know Lexus can do way better.

Maybe they are just paying respect to the LFA and don't want anything to exceed its own 552hp supercar, for now.

Cmon guys, Lexus is not about horsepower wars. Reliability and luxury are still most important. The LFA could have been more powerful but that wasn't the goal.....and I agree. I'm not trying to race anyone. I'm don't need a car to express my manhood. I don't need bragging rights nor fish stories. I want what the rc f offers, power with my refinement and sport.

I know, but Lexus should at least give it a little more than 500hp. RC F already has 467hp, and it's a midsize sedan.

If GS-F has close to 500hp, that's almost 200hp more than the standard GS, so I think thats appropriate/worthy of an F designation even if its less than the competitors, who cares its still going to be damn fast! (and more reliable).

Of course, they had to purposely gimp the motor on the RC-F so it wouldn't be that fast.

Lexus... Just PLEASE PLEASE!!! By the time you produce the GSF!! With ONLY once 500HP The German rivals gonna have more then 600HP PLUS+ I'm actually planning of getting the NEW charger Hellcat STR that produces 707HP... I mean Lexus you should just step up the game and make the GSF with more then 600HP at least with less weight ... That WOULD BE just AMAZING!! Maybe try TURBO RCF machine with more torque and it's ready for the GAME! (OPINION)

Who cares what the Germans do. Lexus is about doing its own thing. I want a brand similar to my thinking.

Toyota Group should purchase Ferrari when FIAT group sells its stake. The benefit of this is beyond comprehension for the brand. If Lexus doesn't BMW will definitely make a play for them.

Yes I agree with a vengeance ! The Global expansion of the brand depends on such a collaboration mixed with the refinement and quality of LEXUS/TMC. I would love to see what could be made from the meeting of the two automakers.

Headlines formed as a question is really questionable journalism. Seems very popular on Lexusenthusiast though ...

I just spoke with the GM here at my dealership (who was at the conference), he said they had a new convertible but it wasn't a RC-F convertible :(
