Lexus April 2014 Sales Report

Lexus USA has reported 23,165 total sales for April 2014, a 23.1% improvement over last year — here’s the model-by-model breakdown:

Total Sales 23,165 18,091 23.1 88,250 74,831 17.9

Please note, all percentages are calculated by the Daily Sales Rate (DSR), which takes into account the number of days in the month that dealerships could sell cars. April 2014 had 26 selling days, April 2013 had 25 selling days.

It’s turning into a broken record, but the IS & GX continue to have an excellent year so far. The IS is a fresh new model and its success is completely understandable, but even Lexus was surprised how consumers are flocking to the updated GX — I continue to hear about lack of inventory from dealerships.

It’s easy to gloss over the success of the RX, but this month’s sales amaze me — the model is six years old, it’s one year removed from its recent update, and still the crossover continues to improve its sales. Will we even see a dip in sales when the NX arrives in dealerships?

(Ok seriously — how did Lexus sell 5 LFAs in April? Wonder what the story is.)

LEXUS will definitely be super busy this Christmas! Hopefully they have enough of the new NX and RC to meet the demand. Patiently wait on the RCF.

I'm really sad for the CT: A really beautiful hatchback, above all after the refresh, penalised by the fact that it has just an hybrid powertrain and this is not a good moment for hybrids in the U.S (honestly cannot understand why why) while in Europe it's the opposite situation and hybrids are at the peak of popularity. With the new 2 liter Turbo the CT may be re-born in terms of numbers.

Fun Fact: If Mercedes didn't have the bottom-feeding CLA, they would be only 2500 sales ahead of Lexus, and about 7k behind BMW. Lexus up 17.9% YTD BMW up 10.7% YTD Mercedes up 6.1% YTD And Lexus still has the NX coming Q4. It will be a wild finish! BD

I'd never thought I would say this about the GX but the new refresh looks really nice in person! so aggressive and bold, it really stands out from the SUV pack from miles.(never a fan of the GX in the past, looked too "soft" and boring)

The LFAs were most likely dealers registering them since they've had them for so long. Some dealers have have them 2+ years.
