Imagining a Lexus RC F Convertible

One week after its release, two photochoppers have cut the roof off the Lexus RC F and imagined it as a convertible — first off is this design from X-Tomi:

There’s also this photochop by Garrett Bradford:

A convertible RC model is likely to be a safe bet, but will Lexus make an RC F convertible? Applying the F treatment to the eventual RC convertible would seem like an “easy” thing, but it might not fit very well in the lineup — I’m reminded of a Motoring Australia quote from RC chief engineer Furuyama:

“The main purpose of [the RC] is to create an aggressive image for the Lexus brand. A hard top coupe is suitable for that purpose compared with a convertible, because a convertible is for older people.”

They should stick with a coupe until they can get a convertible right. The IS convertible was a big disappointment in the rear end, my opinion.

An "easy" RC-F convertible? I think not. The RC-F is already a porker at nearly 4000 lbs. Now add cross bracing to compensate for the missing roof. Add extra support needed to counteract the flexibility of a convertible body. Add the roof folding mechanism. A 4500 lb RC-F? Yikes.

The "GT" look the convertible exudes is better suited to the RC 350, not the RC F.

The side profile is too long for a convertible. this car is good as it is. Try on the LF CC mybe
