Lexus has tied Mercedes Benz in the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2013 China Initial Quality Study, with each brand recording only 52 problems per 100 vehicles sold. The industry in China averages 119 problems per 100 vehicles.
The study looks at problems experienced by new vehicle owners in the six months of ownership, dividing those issues into two distinct categories: design-related problems and defects and malfunctions.

The study is now in its fourteenth year, and is based on responses from 21,181 owners in 46 major cities across China.
