Lexus Stops Manufacturing European-Spec IS Models

Lexus has stopped production of European-spec IS models due to new crash safety legislation that goes into effect at the end of the year.

The issue centers around the shape of the front-end, which does not meet the new pedestrian safety requirements — rather than make changes to the current model, Lexus has chosen to wait until the next-generation IS debuts early next year.

(Of course, the IS will continue to be available at European dealerships until the existing inventory runs out.)

Does this mean Lexus has now finished making Diesel engines vehicles? I think the European IS was the last model left.

Was there ever other diesel models? In some European countries Lexus stopped selling IS220d already a year ago stating that hybrid is where they want to go. So I doubt there will be another diesel Lexus ever. Which is good IMO.

this is not true... Lexus has been and is selling IS200d and IS220d in Europe this year/now. And anyway, production of 2IS stops in a month worldwide... In UK they changed to IS200d for lower consumption but in other countries both models were still sold. Toyota/Lexus UK usually does their own thing.

This is so sad news for Lexus customer..How can Lexus stop produktion of a model before it have a new succesor. I think they have very bad planning. Think if Bmw or Audi should stop production of the 3 serie or A4 serie, because of bad planning...Would be fun to hear how Lexus was thinking about this stop, is it because they know the new IS will come soon??
