CAR Comparison: Lexus LFA vs. Lamborghini Aventador

The CAR Magazine showdown between the Lexus LFA and Lamborghini Aventador has been posted online, and the results are spectacular — here’s a couple quotes:

Last night I’d had a nagging realization that the Lexus is actually a more exciting car than the Lamborghini. On this road, it’s confirmed with astonishing certainty. It’s not faster, but it’s more thrilling and more rewarding.

I feel mildly shocked by that conclusion. How can a front-engined car with a mere 412kW prove a richer experience than a huge hunk of mid-engined Italian testosterone? It’s in the detail.

If you had to lock just one of these cars into a time capsule to capture the essence of a supercar, it’s be the orange [Aventador]. The LFA is more troublesome; a supercar that places no importance on looking wild nor on Top Trumps numbers. It’s a driving machine pure and simple and it’s amongst the best there’s ever been.

In the end, there’s no clear “winner” between the two, but the fact that the LFA has stood head-to-head with Lamborghini’s latest & greatest is a testament to craft & quality of the Lexus engineers — amazing result.

Besides all that, the photography from the article is fantastic — just look at this shot:

Personally I think if they wanted to test the best of both companies, they should have used the Nur package.

I find it funny now the LFA is going head to head with just about everything going it is more than a match for all the Supercars its gone against and all this from a company that apprently has no heritage in making such a car. Thumbs up Toyota/Lexus.

I'm not surprised at all: Some other people had reported the fact the Aventador is less fun to drive than the previously Murcielago and in the same time we all know that the LFA is the most pleasureable car to drive on this planet.

I disagree with it being said that there was no clear winner as the writer is clearly gushing about the LFA compared to the Lambo, but he's afraid to say so like he's afraid of insulting some ones new baby.Look how cheap that Lambo looks compared to the Lexus. If the LFA was built that cheaply, all the haters out there would tear it apart.

How exactly does the Lamborghini "look cheap"? How can a design be defined as cheap? Design is subjective. I personally don't like the styling of the LF-A for instance, but I'd never call the design "cheap".

Personally,I don't recall mentioning the 'design or styling' of either car,but rather the 'build quality & attention to detail'

The win for the LFA is in the comparison.  NO other cars.  Just the top supercar Lambo and the Lexus.     Lexus LFA has street cred.   They have The Ring record for current production street-legal vehicles. Lexus can sit at the table with any Ferrari or Lambo.  They produce a true sports car legend. When has BMW, Mr Driving Machine, ever done that, BTW? It's been a long ass time! BD

Love the quote:   "It's a driving machine pure and simple and it's amongst the best there's ever been"   That is the best phrase yet!   it's true as well: it's not about price or being the fastest----being the best is the most important part----this is the philosophy that LEXUS is taking from here forward-----AKIO wants LEXUS to be the BEST automobile for the MOST sophistocated buyer to drive....This says it all........it will be the future of LEXUS.

We have always said it and we all know it, the Japanese have always copied the Americans and Europeans. Now look at what they have achieved, this is a majestic example of how far they have come in the last 50 years and it took the last 10 to create this true masterpiece. Hats off  to Toyota for introducing Lexus and now they have given birth to the LFA, wht will they achievein the next 50 yeras??????
