Lexus GS 250 Debuts in China

Finally making it official, Lexus has unveiled the GS 250 today at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition in China.

Powered by the same 2.5L V6 engine as the current IS 250, the GS 250 will have 154kW/206 HP at 6,400rpm and a peak torque of 253Nm/187 lb-ft of torque at 4,800rpm. This brings a fuel economy of 31.7mpg (British)/26.4mpg US and C02 emissions of 207g/km.

The Chinese debut of this model is a sure sign of things to come — it was also announced today that China has already become the second biggest market for Lexus, behind only the USA in sales volume. Amazing growth, to be sure, considering the brand was only introduced to the country in 2005.

The 2013 GS 250 will be available in most countries outside of North America starting in the summer of 2012.

Got my CT last week, in pretty much this color. But the CT really needs this new face/grille - it looks very toothless from certain angles: http://speedlor.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/2011-Lexus-CT-200h-Front-View-1024x680.jpg In bad lighting it is easily confused with the 2011 Ford Focus: http://media.il.edmunds-media.com/ford/focus/as/10/de/ford_focus_front_10-de-as_1_717.jpg , esp. as they have the same LED-arrangement :(

IMHO 207g is pretty poor, I can't see this car selling at all in the UK once the 2nd hybrid comes on line in 2013.  For just 12g more you could be driving an LS600hL.
