The Chronicle Herald Previews the 2013 Lexus GS 350

Canadian journalist Richard Russell of the Chronicle Herald also had a chance to drive the pre-production prototype 2013 Lexus GS 350s in California.

From the sound of things, he was impressed by the difference between the current and future model, claiming “there couldn’t be a Lexus beneath the full body camouflage — it was simply too responsive, too adept at tackling the turns.”

I realy don't understand this idea that lexus aren't handing or dynamic cars...Am I wrong or I recall da 2nd Generation GS300/400 reviews by MotorTend (1998 import Car of the Year) and Car& Driver considered the this GS MkII as dynamically as good as the BMWs e39 (still the best handing BMW yet)...I recall the 2001 IS300 as a great handler...why this conotation that Lexus are not fun to drive??? I do understand that the 3rd Gen GS and ES was to refined duo to the introduction of to many mecatronic systems that turned the driving experience to "processed" and unnatural. But what abour the 2GS and 1IS? Forgotten?

It's all marketing, Lexus doesn't need to market itself as the best Lexus handing or dynamic cars in world.  It is inside knowledge among enthusiast and race car drivers that Lexus is the greatest car maker in the world.    The current and future GS will run circles around around all BMWs regardless of the model.  I know for sure that an IS is handles better than Lotus Elise.

Agree, this was a pretty silly thing for the reviewer to say, but I thought it illustrated how the GS seems to have the ability to change people's perception of Lexus.
