Lexus CT 200h Pre-Orders Double Sales in Netherlands

It’s entirely possible I’m reading this translated article wrong, but according to Dutch newspaper De Telgraaf, Lexus Netherlands received 1,000 pre-orders for the CT 200h — a remarkable number considering that last year, only 700 Lexus were sold in the country!

The newspaper attributes the brisk sales to the hatchback’s exemption from road tax, but whatever the reason, this has to be exactly what Lexus Europe was hoping for.

Wow, I went to check out the CT at my local dealership here in Aus. It is an amazing vehicle and the seating position is so comfortable. Didn't get a chance to test drive though as there was a queue!

It is an awesome car ever.. i have owned it rite now.. and driving it so marvelous across the country.. well done lexus ct200h.. wont regret buying it.. ehee

The artical says in Dutch that there are 1000 cars pre-orderd and the expectations of 2011 are to sell 1500 cars. The reason of it's succes is that you only have to pay 14% taxes in stead of 30 i think (it's a guess, I'm from Belgium, not from Holland) The artical is already a month old, i'm curious how mutch they actually sold

same here..sat in it and it was HOT and seemed well built....the only problem for me is that if it was a second car for us then it would be fine..but as a single car...carrying four people in the car is impossible esp since im 5'11 and put the seat all the way back..other then that..second car? yes..i'd buy it in a heartbeat..

Keep in mind that there are only 11 lexus dealers in the Netherlands.

But you can order/service your Lexus @Toyota dealer with the same conditions (they com to collect your car at your home and leave a replacement car behind) I'm not sure that's the case in Holland, but in Belgium it is...

No, we can only order/service the car by a lexus dealer and not a toyota dealer.

I am from the Netherlands and I am the lucky owner of an one week old CT200h. :) Luckily I pre-ordered my car four months ago so my car was within one of the first 50 deliveries. The car is amazing and I'm really really happy with it. When the car was shipped on a boat from Japan to the Netherlands I received a bottle of champagne to celebrate this event (nice). I received a menu as well, on this menu I could fill in my prefered presets, e.g. radio-stations, navigation addresses etc, When I picked up my car from the dealer all the presets were allready programmed!!! How cool is that. Another huge Lexus enthusiast :)

    Setting your presets beforehand is an awesome little perk! I wonder if that's just in the Netherlands or in other markets as well.

    Probably only in the Netherlands but I'm not sure. My Lexus dealer told me that they did not do this before the CT200h was released but because they had so much positive respons they will continue doing this for every Lexus model from now on. Same in Norway, 200 pre-orders, expected 450 for this year. Total sales all models in 2010 was 179 cars. It has received quite good reviews in several local media "best in class", "most luxury for the buck" etc. so yes it seems to be a hit for Lexus. And it is very much favored in the car tax system here.

att : readers - Lexus Australia has a celebrity race this weekend as part of the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix and will be solely using the CT200h - 27 cars in total. The pre-race / entertainment will also be used to launch the new Lexus (CT200h)in Australia so for those who are interested, be sure to watch the race. The F1 race is on this Sunday (27 March 2011) so i assume the CT200h Celebrity Race will be sometime before the Grand Prix. Defantly be worth watching. Cheers Shane From Australia

Lexus held the first of two celebrity races today at the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix weekend with the CT200h and all went well. The second race will be tomorrow (Sunday 27 March 2011) at 2.15pm Melbourne time ... be sure to tune in and watch.
