Lexus January 2011 Sales Report

Lexus USA has reported their January 2011 sales — here they are, broken down by model:

Being down 17.1% on sales already probably isn’t the way Lexus USA was hoping to start the year, but a slowdown is unavoidable when most of the vehicles in the lineup are at least midway through their lifecycle (the current-gen GS & ES likely only have this year left).

Some other points:

  • The HSh’s extremely low sales are due more to Lexus’ plan to sell off the remaining 2010 models — 2011 HS 250hs have yet to arrive in the USA.
  • The SUV lineup continues to pull in strong numbers, and the RX is still showing year-over-year improvement. This current generation RX is such a huge success.
  • No matter what else, it’s great to see the LFA in the sales charts.

Although it looks like 2011 is going to be a rocky road, it’s not all doom & gloom: the CT 200h is set to arrive at dealerships in March, and with it there’s an opportunity for Lexus to put up some positive numbers and put the brand back on track, plus it’s going to be fun watching that LFA number climb as the months go by.

Canada

Lexus Canada sold 728 vehicles in January, down 23.6% from the previous year.

This is not looking good. Not at all. Lexus got smashed by everyone, from MB to BMW and almost by Cadillac, too. http://www.autoblog.com/2011/02/01/by-the-numbers-january-2011-happy-new-year-indeed-edition/ And the CT won't do much volume-wise, at least in the US. What Lexus needs is an all-new sedan lineup ASAP!

The years shown here should be 2011 vs. 2010 right? Notice for the first time in months the GX is down 26%.

As the great Kurt Cobain once said, these low sales makes me to smoke crack.

You're right, thanks for pointing that out! I've fixed it. :-)
I updated the post with the Canadian sales figures.
