Lexus LS Generations Desktop Wallpapers

This week’s Autocar review of a 1990 LS 400 reminded me of a desktop wallpaper I’ve had sitting on my computer for quite some time:

I had featured a very similar image some time back, which still stands as one of my favorite Lexus desktop wallpapers of all time — here it is again:

Lexus LS Generations I

The transition from that first generation LS 400 through to the LS 460 is dramatic, but there’s a clear & natural progression that brings the LS a striking continuity. I would love to find similar images of all the Lexus models.

Awesome wallpapers! The LS 460... has so many bad angles! Anyways, that cover over the L-insignia because of the adaptive radar cruise control was cool at first, but the outcome looks a bit cheap. Lexus should at least make it look jewelry-like or make the emblem portion uncovered.

@RDS: What you see is the facelifted version, which is the one I have. This is the 2nd generation LS before the facelift:

@RDS: btw, there was a big hp and torque increase for the facelifted 2nd generation LS because of VVT-i (the engine was named Ward's 10 Best Engines from 1998-2000, which is its production run). Other major additions included the GPS and VSC - the VSC could be turned off though :-) Overall, the second generation was not a success for Lexus; even though they surveyed all their customers, they listened very closely to those who liked the vehicle the way it looked and operated... not the best way to maintain the LS's top spot.

@WorldofLuxury : The difference on looks of 1st gen & 2nd gen is very little , they looks almost the same although it's totally different generation . After you show the pre-facelift version's 2nd gen LS , I just remember I saw that about weeks ago . It was blur my mind because I remember the 1st gen's LS have bigger headlight and taillight , I was though that's 1st gen's LS but facelifted . Honestly , the 2nd gen facelifted LS's front end looks like old Mercedes-Benz . I like it but never saw one in my area . I'm so surprise that because my area have lot of 1st & 4th gen LS but very few of 2nd & 3rd gen .

The radar cruise control "shield" is so weird, can't believe that used to be the best solution.

What do you think of the current version? I can easily compare it to the Porsche insignia sticker on the GT3-RS. The badge has really lost its depth and appeal, in my opinion. Lexus is welcome to do their version of this :-P :
@WorldofLuxury: I know it's not everyone's favorite, but I really like the giant L logo.
