The Lexus RC, despite being heavier, is so much more of a sports car than the 4 Series/M4. Shame on BMW.

As for the LFA, hope that that engine lives on till its successor. It is the best engine ever.

The new Code X V10 sounds like a monster. Although, it seems to make so much midrange torque, the driver does not seem to be as aggressively downshifting in the corners to power out. Could be just that the driver is only casually doing a "strolling" lap.

Indeed. Might not be the most powerful, but definitely the best engine ever made.

I'll be interested to see what tunes models like the RC, IS and GS get when they receive the 2.0T. Lexus has commented that the engine is easily tunable for different applications and the RC is a pretty heavy vehicle. It would be great if they could aim for ~250hp/270lb-ft of torque.

Will that really be the next LFA? Test mule?

There's currently no plan to replace the LFA with a new model -- more likely, the LFA Code-X is a prototype of the upcoming LF-LC production model.

I don't know -- the report is that Lexus rented out the entire Nürburgring for this tracking exercise. I would hope the drivers were going all out.

This is the same idea that was floated around with the RC F & GS F -- wouldn't Lexus use the same tuning for every vehicle using the 2.0L turbo?

I would love to be wrong about this, but I don't quite follow the thinking. :)

But as far as I know the LF LC(SC F) will definitely have a 5.0V8TT engine. I still wonder why Lexus use a 5.3V10 na on code X.

Research and development for something, who knows.

What a pity if Lexus not make a LFA successor. They really need something special that always on top of the mountain . For Lexus , ten years as one generation is fine. I hope I can see the new LFA before 2020.

Very good point, though I was thinking chassis tuning rather than the engine. What is Lexus planning with that 5.3L V10?

LF LC (SC) is made for mass production. It won't use that much expensive CF body. People from Lexus claim that we couldnt see a new LFA anytime soon. Pity but any possible for LFA2 to use the 5.3V10+ electric motor? You see codex has the V10 and CF body and TS040 has the hybrid. No problem for tech but maybe sense.

The other thing -- maybe Lexus just feels confident this is a car that can win races? Maybe it has nothing to do with any immediate development.

Hmmm, yes, that could be it. Although keep in mind, Lexus itself does officially describe the Code X as a "development" platform.
