Lexus Announces ES Sedan Recall for Driver Knee Airbag Issue

I got my air bags replaced in the front driver and passenger for my 2010 ES 350. Is this recall a new one?

Yes, I took my new ES 350 F Sport in to dealer for 5k service and they kept the car to fix the issue. As with all new models, I’m sure this one will have its share of bugs and recalls. It’s worth it though - what a fun car to drive an hour to work everyday.

No. This is not a bug related to Lexus.
It's a similar case with Takata.
There are two separate recalls, each one related to human fatalities since 2015.

Both cases relate to the German supplier ZF.
Automakers have been hiding the problem under the carpet since 2015. :D

Anyway, all cars regardless of the brand have issues with the airbags. Chinese, German, Korean Swedish, US airbag companies, they have issues. That has been always the case since the introduction of airbags.
