Let's Speculate: 2018 Model Year NX Refresh?

Introduced in 2014 as a 2015, we can assume that the NX is due for a refresh this year as it closes in on the 2018 model year.

We've seen the "NX 300" trademark, and Lexus seems to be dropping the "t" from their F/I engines as noted with the new LS 500. What else can we infer about the 2018 NX?

In addition to the name change, I'm expecting that the NX will upgrade to an 8AT like the GS 200t and IS 200t use. Of course, we can expect some minor exterior revisions but I am hoping that the biggest changes are made to the interior.

While I really like the exterior design of the NX, it's interior struggles badly next to the Mercedes GLC which is like a scaled-down version of the S Class. IMO, the NX needs a redesigned dashboard/center console, and I'm also hoping that it picks up the same 10.3" multimedia screen that the IS received at it's mid-cycle refresh.

I can hope for a V6, but I know that won't happen ensive:

Give us an NXF! Lexus doesn't have one quick SUV. Every other major competitor does. This is the best looking SUV (exterior) that they have, they need to give it the real boost and let it compete. Bigger nav I also agree with.

Totally agree ... especially the need for interior upgrade (center stack in particular). Somehow, get rid of the easily-scratched fake aluminum trim. And in certain sunlight, vision of readouts is occluded.

Yearn for a V6 too. Engine vibration in our NX is annoying especially during the winter (colder temperatures) when brake hold is engaged. Dealer said nothing can be done to alleviate. The sound of the rev of the engine during hard acceleration is okay, but during regular acceleration engine noise is the typical sound of a 4 cylinder ... just not Lexus-like! Also, on a drastic downhill, the downshift is so pronounced and loud, I've come to remember to disengage cruise control temporarily until the road levels out. Give us a V6! Agreed, probably not going to happen ...

Other ideas: high beams and rear turn signals should be LED. Automatic retracting rear-view mirrors. Panoramic sun roof. Re-design (improve) effectiveness of visor when used for side light blockage.

And please!!! ... Improve the look of the shape of the front fascia on non-F Sport models in the US. I understand the need for light truck designation, but surely something can be done with this shape. As someone has observed on the site previously: "... the side of the front fascia looks like a catfish with an overbite!" ... again, probably not going to happen. I'll go with the F Sport next time.

Whenever offered opportunity, I've shared all these 'wants' with The Lexus Advisory Board ... I'd be willing to pay more for these improvements!

And please!!! ... Improve the look of the shape of the front fascia on non-F Sport models in the US. I understand the need for light truck designation, but surely something can be done with this shape. As someone has observed on the site previously: "... the side of the front fascia looks like a cat-fish with an overbite!" ... again, probably not going to happen. I'll go with the F Sport next time.

I totally agree. The regular grill is just an eyesore on an otherwise great looking vehicle. I understand it has something to do with approach angles, but then how does the F Sport pass? The new LS, LC and IS update show the spindle grill doesn't have to look grotesque! Neither should the NX. And maybe Lexus could de-clutter the dash and console a bit too.

The new LS, LC and IS update show the spindle grill doesn't have to look grotesque! Neither should the NX. And maybe Lexus could de-clutter the dash and console a bit too.

Correct me if I'm wrong folks, but if memory serves I understood this shape was necessary to receive a light truck classification that helped the entire brand meet Cafe standards in the US. That's the reason you see this strange fascia in the US only. In other countries you don't have to buy the F Sport in order to get the properly shaped fascia.

I am hoping for a NXh F-Sport...The RX does why not the NX.

That's the reason you see this strange fascia in the US only. In other countries you don't have to buy the F Sport in order to get the properly shaped fascia.

Yup...the Canadian NX is better looking.
