Pretty mundane here: any verification of the supposed 2023 Lexus RX350 being powered by strictly 4 cylinder ? Albeit Turbowed but come on - a bulky SUV vehicle like the RX350 with this anemic power ? Any input on this ?

Yes, I'm glad I bought the 2022.

The RX was sold with 2.7L I4 and 2.0T I4 before. Lexus has a long history of making underpowered cars so why are you surprised 🤣

Most likely…
RX 350 = 2.4 L Turbo 4 cylinder (~275hp)
RX 350h = 2.5L 4 cylinder + hybrid (~240hp)
RX 450h+ = 2.5 L 4 cylinder + plug-in hybrid system (~300hp)
RX 500h = 2.5L Turbo 4 cylinder + hybrid (~350hp)

These powers are fine for 99% of the buyers.

What I hate about the RX is FWD bias. Since gas is expensive these days I drive the RX every chance I have and today I was in a rush with lots of stop 'n go traffic and I freaking hate the RX. It has enough power but the gearing and FWD bias suck. Mine is AWD but it still sucks

All prior generations of the RX also had a V6 powertrain available, so it is somewhat surprising that Lexus wouldn't offer (allegedly) a V6 engine for the next iteration RX as well.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Toyota/Lexus ditch the V6 in all transverse applications. They’ve already done it in the Sienna, which really shocked me, and I think they will ditch the V6 in the RX and Highlander as well.

The only exception to that might be the Grand Highlander and TX, but I don’t know what V6 might be used in that. It won’t be the GR, and that’s part of what makes me think we will see a smaller displacement TT V6 for the TX, Grand Highlander, Tacoma, Prado, GX, and 4Runner.

I agree 100%. A lighter platform with better powertrain tuning and a modern AWD system could make the next RX feel a lot faster than the current one - even with a 4cyl ICE. On the current RX, the gearing on the V6 is absolutely awful and the FWD + traction control cutting power makes driving an RX brutal, BRUTAL to drive. Even the AWD system is a "slip-then-grip" variety that torque steers and scrapes for traction before engaging.

RX 450h+ or RX 500h with theoretical 300-350hp and a full-time electronic AWD system could actually make the RX a somewhat interesting CUV to drive. Much better than any RX before it - even the RX 350 if it comes with standard AWD like the NX 350.
