A small summer RCF meet (with an LC500). An RCF track edition in Electric Surge Blue was supposed to show up as well, but was a no show. Was really looking forward to it. Had a pro photographer there who took some rolling shots so will post it up here.

I could see an RCF being a lot of fun at a circuit, but auto-x seems like a miserable tease for something with that heft and power.

Use that to your advantage 😉 put some sticky 200TWs up front, stiffen up the rear end and some less aggressive 300TW tires, and use that power/stiffening for more rotation out of turns

Agreed on much better tires as it really needs better than the OEM tires it comes with. However, RCF is inherently very tail happy in tight turns especially if you have TVD. It power oversteers everywhere in auto cross settings when you have the steering cranked hard.

I believe, it is the last year of RCF GT3 racing season before the GR GT3 replaces t. The RCF will live on only in the base model trim for one more year to meet the requirements for racing, I believe in 2025. Both the carbon model and track edition are discontinued.

VERDICT
Lexus RC F Ultimate Edition
Bellows in some ways, whispers in others. A little flawed, but never dull or boring

GOOD
Theatrical power delivery
Rich, inviting, alternative cabin
Excellent material quality

BAD
Ride and handling shows evidence of its mass
8-speed auto 'box is a real fun sponge
Doesn't have the knock-out

DESIGN & STYLING

PROS
Remains wedded to atmo V8 power
Advanced driveline tech

CONS
Rivals have more power and torque
Heavy despite all the carbon

INTERIOR

PROS
Lavish, attractive materials
High-quality look and feel

CONS
High driving position
Antiquated multimedia system
No folding back seats

ENGINES & PERFORMANCE

PROS
Bristling, effusive V8 soundtrack is suitably epic
Carbon brakes have power and stamina

CONS
Only hot hatch quick by modern performance standards
Gearbox is unworthy

RIDE & HANDLING

PROS
Tactile steering and subtle, hard-working diff make for absorbing road handling

CONS
Doesn’t disguise its bulk well

MPG & RUNNING COSTS

PROS
Price isn’t out to gouge the chosen few
Limited supply might make it a collector’s curious

CONS
They will be long sold now
