I really hope the new tech isn't hand gesture control,
I have never encountered anything so pointless that so many car companies have jumped on a must have scenario. Voice control is better but still many people don't use as trying to remember the exact commands needed is a challenge.
First...
This helps explain the issues imo: http://evobsession.com/hydrogen-cars-vs-electric-cars-detailed-comparison-efficiency/
And: http://evobsession.com/hydrogen-fuel-cell-cars-fail-in-depth/
It's a real shame as I would SO love a Lexus equiv of a Tesla.
I just can't get behind fuel cell at the moment, there are just some things that don't make sense:
Infrastructure - electricity is everywhere, you can charge at home, fast chargers on longer routes, of course is means a lack of control for the people wanting to maintain fuel stations and tax...
But that means unless you want a bigger car you have to tend to drop a model level, admittedly the NX is hardly a major drop but the RX is still a step above in refinement, performance etc.
It will be like in another generation the IS being the same size as the old GS.
Just don't...
"As you are well aware, downsizing is a worldwide trend. Urban traffic, fuel consumption, emissions control make it all difficult to justify big cars. "
I so wish this was true yet almost every manufacturer for every car makes them BIGGER! The new RX is growing by a significant amount.
Why do car companies insist of thinking they can write better software than software companies?! Classic case in point was the BMW i3 that wasn't even using a secure channel for communication. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-31093065
Have always thought the weakest area for Lexus cars is the infotainment, I was so happy to hear of the launch of Apple CarPlay and so dissapointed when Lexus weren't going to introduce it - it is actually enough to make me look at other cars.
The beauty of a system like Apple CarPlay is...
The only people who have 'got' the F brand are the normal people who have tested them, Lexus set out to create a car that a normal (read not highly skilled driver) could still drive fast.
I would love to see a test of some normal people doing back to back RC F / M4 drives and see the times...
