The brand announced today that 698,330 vehicles were sold worldwide during the 2018 calendar year, representing a 4.5% increase over calendar year 2017 (668,515 units). A solid array of luxury utility vehicles such as the RX and NX, the LC and LS flagships, along with the all-new ES and the first-ever UX, combined to lead the global luxury lifestyle brand to its best-ever year of sales.
Question is when will sales reach 1 million?Best ever year in sales, and with new es and ux this year, we can say that quite likely 2019 will also be record year.
If you mean 1 million sales per year, I think it'll be a while, if ever, for Lexus to reach that goal. With 698,330 units sold in 2018, hitting or surpassing the 700,000 mark this year shouldn't be too difficult. Perhaps the 3/4 million (750,000) sales per year mark should be their next major target.Question is when will sales reach 1 million?

750k will be easy for 2019, simply because of ES and UX... 2020-2021 will also go well over 800k due to new CT and IS... but other than that, I am not sure how would they be able to achieve more than 900k, and I am not sure if they would be trying that hard.
For going significantly over 900k it would require doubling sales in China basically. I wont mention Japan, because main "problem" in Japan is various Toyota vehicles going near premium, and I dont think they want to pause that, because their goal is maximizing overall TMC profit and maximizing Lexus sales.
If you look at new Corolla in Europe, it has 2.0l hybrid, AVS on all 4 wheels, matrix LED headlights, alcantara + full real leather seats, pano roof that opens, hatch opening sensor... ie there isnt much that Lexus version of CT could add other than styling inside and out.
So to get to 1m, it would need 150k extra from China, while Russia, Japan and EU (together with some other Asian markets= could add extra 150k together.
Well done and congratulations Lexus! Look forward to another 10 million vehicles. Most of those vehicles (60%) were sold in the U.S. Hopefully Lexus can sell 1 million vehicles per year globally. We've got the UX and soon we'll get the LC convertible and LQ and hopefully more new models and variants...
already today, US share of sales has dropped to below 45%... it will continue because there is a lot of growth to be had globally.
Wow, that's a big drop. Curious on where Lexus sales are increasing, most likely China and India? In Europe there's a slight increase in Lexus sales and if Infiniti leaves the European market it opens it up for Lexus.

As for the rest of the world, Lexus has been entering other markets such as Vietnam, Egypt, various parts of South America, etc...
