They're both CVT-only, right?

I'd guess that the hybrid is somewhat heavier, which could negatively impact payload ratings.

No more alone NA or forced Gasoline engine after 2025

You can have either Hybrid electric NA or Hybrid electric forced

So even the 3.5TT will be mated to electric motor or be ditched within 8 years but it will not be left alone

For only $2k less, who would purchase the 200 over the 250h? That seems like a no-brainer to me.

Seriously, there is no reason whatsoever to pick the 200 FWD. That $2k extra gives better MPG, acceleration, and AWD. It's almost as if they want to sell exactly zero UX200 in the U.S. The UX250h might just become the true successor of the CT200h as the hybrid-only model.

I feel like the A25A would have been the better choice as the NA engine, at least in the states.

If this were to be the CT successor they'd need to fix that ride-height problem that most hatchbacks seem to be suffering these days. I wonder if we could swap over the Corolla shocks/springs?

They did originally trademark UX 250, if I recall correctly. That engine would have been great for the UX... these two are very anemic. 0-60 in 9 seconds for 2019? Yikes.

it just does not work that way... 200 will be >50% of the sales.

hybrid is low 8s, not 9s... if that matters to you :)

But for Europe, this is actually comparable to mid-spec german vehicles, not base... base are over 10s.

You sure about that? No doubt the 200 will be ~50% in, say, China. In EU or Japan 250h will be like 70-80%. But in NA the 200 is just that, DOA. It's the same story that if they drop the ES250/260 in NA for $35k it will still be less than 10% of the sales, so they did not. It's the same story that there is no Inline-3 318i in NA.

Yes. One thing for sure is that the UX will run circles around its main competitors in its main markets, where most BMWs have that dreadful Inline-3.

In EU, it will be 98% 250h.

In US it will be well over 50% for 200. $2k is a lot and many people are still not used to the hybrids. There is also a question of supply, hybrid is coming later. I think best number for any TMC vehicle for Petrol vs Hybrid so far was 25%, and usually it is around 10% or less!... but here difference is not so large in price and you get some kind of awd too, so it will be much bigger market share than with Rav4 for instance.

My thoughts that this will be Lexus strategy until 2025 make the hybrid much more powerful, luxurious with a lot more options all with the same price or little more compared to the gasoline units
