Lexus IS Named Best Executive Car in Scottish Car of the Year Awards

The Lexus IS has been named Executive Car of the Year in the Scottish Car of the Year Awards:

Alasdair Suttie, [Association of Scottish Motoring Writers] President, said: “In a marketplace dominated by German offerings, the Lexus IS delivers a unique take on the compact luxury theme. It feels fresh and different to the more obvious choices and the standard kit list in lengthier too.

“At its most desirable in hybrid form, this is a car that’s subtle and respectable. The hybrid drivetrain works well and offers a refined alternative to the usual diesel choices, while the low CO2 is good news for company car drivers.”

still wish the US would get the 300h, but I guess I understand the lower demand out here right now.

I don't. People stop buying frugal cars at the moment the gas prices are falling. Who says gas prices aren't rising again very soon? Do we have to use as much gasoline as possible?

oh I agree, and I'm still every bit as excited about filling up my little CT200h at $2.37/gal as when it was $3.75/gal. I work for a Lexus dealership and just talking to many people, most either don't understand the hybrid drivetrain(Do I plug it in?), benefits of hybrids beyond fuel savings(insta-torque), or they've just been overly annoyed when they get stuck behind a prius trying to 'economically' get onto a freeway. Until performance based hybrids are readily accessible, or the US mindset finally hits the fuel economy tipping point... or the US enacts some of the same carbon and emissions policies as the EU, we're just not going to get these great vehicles without a hefty import fee, hah. It's the same with the NX, the 200t is doing well(we're already out of stock at our dealership here), but I still haven't seen a 300h and I heard it's only going to be 10% of the total build. Just sad.
