Official details will be released on December 5th
One concept car that started it all, two different trademarks, three possible brands, nearly four years of rampant speculation, hundreds of spy shots, and now we have our answer: Toyota’s GR GT3 Concept will come to production as the GR (Gazoo Racing) GT.
Lexus Enthusiast has followed the development and speculation around this car since it began, and while many hoped it would be produced as the Lexus LFR, a new official teaser video shows the car clearly branded as “GR GT.”
While most automotive media and enthusiasts were expecting a Lexus badge, the only time that truly seemed likely was a leaked photo from a Lexus dealer meeting showing the GR GT3 Concept wearing a circle L logo. Lexus Enthusiast published that photo in 2022 but was asked to remove it.
When Toyota introduced the car at the 2022 Japan Mobility Show, it was officially named “GR GT3 Concept,” shown here:
In 2024, the name “GR GT3” was seen in an official Toyota anime series that seemingly listed out a future GR product roadmap (along with the MK6 Supra, MK8 Celica, and MK4 MR2):
As development progressed, official news about the car was sparse until Toyota brought it to the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year and called it the “Toyota GT Concept.”
Most recently, Toyota began teasing the GR GT alongside the Lexus LFA and Toyota 2000GT with the slogan, “The soul lives on.” This first appeared on a billboard in October in advance of the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, and it’s now present again in the latest clip showing all three cars on a race track. The video is here – playback outside of YouTube is unavailable.
Toyota’s official GR website currently has a 6 day countdown ticker which coincides with the teaser video’s mention of a December 5, 2025 reveal date.
After so much speculation, it will be exciting to get the official details even if the GR GT won’t be wearing a Lexus logo.
