Next-Generation Lexus LM to Debut at Auto Shanghai 2023

Lexus will debut an all-new LM minivan at the Shanghai auto show next week, marking the second generation of their Asiatic people mover. A teaser image “showing some of the unique design elements” was released, here’s the full resolution:

Even with this tiny preview, the next-generation model is already miles ahead of the original design — the first generation LM was a near-identical copy of the Toyota Alphard, and as such, never really resembled a Lexus despite its massive front grille.

Think it interesting that several Toyota models are now catching up to Lexus in terms of styling and sense of luxury.
In South Africa it is quite difficult to buy a UX when the RAV is cheaper and offers AWD as standard and is very well equipped and built.
The upmarket Crown is to be launched here any day now and again cheaper than the Lexus ES and offers a lot of car for your cash!
The Century rumoured to be launching an SUV to compete with Rolls and Bentley not badged Toyota but everyone knows it is a Toyota.
Confusing.

That’s pretty normal, but you need to compare it with other premium offers (like BBA).

If you get into a Lexus, coming out of a Toyota, and don’t feel any difference, then buy the Toyota.
I’ve come to a realization that you only need to get into them and close the door to know if you’re a Lexus or a Toyota customer.

Build quality, material choice, amount of sound deadening, sensorial experience and design are considerably higher in the Lexus. If you don’t look at those things then you’re not a Lexus customer.
You pay for the extra attention to detail, to experience amazing, if you want a good price vs. quality offer go directly to Toyota.

I really hope they bring this to Australia! There is talk of it coming (not that I can afford one)!

There have been reports that 2nd Gen Lexus LM will be manufactured in different factory from Toyota Alphard/Vellfire. This should differentiate further in terms of built quality.

indeed. If you think that RAV4 is well build and has premium materials, nothing will ever convince you that NX should exist.
