Next-Generation Lexus RX Getting New 500h Powertrain

Japanese magazine Mag-X is reporting that the next-generation Lexus RX will debut this year with four powertrains: a 2.4L turbo RX 350, a 2.5L RX 350h hybrid, a RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid, and a 2.4L turbo RX 500h hybrid.

Three of these engines come directly from the new NX, but the RX 500h will be an all-new powertrain that will eventually be shared with the expected TX 500h three-row crossover.

I hope output will be close to the LC/LS500h otherwise the numbers will be come increasingly meaningless.

Please don't get rid of the 3.5 Litter V6, Great motor! smooth, great power and no turbo & runs on regular unleaded.

I agree, but the 6 cylinder is likely to go in favour of a four cylinder turbo. One of the reasons I wanted my RX was because it had no turbo, and of course no particulate filter, no starter motor, etc etc. I don't want a four cylinder turbo engine which will be much more stressed than the 6 pot N A engine. I guess it'll be reliable being a lexus but even so, I love my 6 cylinder RX hybrid, it's economical, under stressed, tows my caravan easily and is effortless to drive, and has been totally reliable. I won't be buying any of the new RX models due to lexus dropping the six cylinder N A engine.
