Lexus LF-1 Production Crossover to Debut in 2020?

Japanese website Spyder7 is reporting that Lexus will release a production version of the LF-1 Limitless crossover in 2020, just three years after the concept debuted at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.

Powering the new flagship crossover will be the twin-turbo V6 engine from the LS 500, though Spyder7 suggests a minor power boost up to 424 horsepower. The V6 hybrid engine from the LS/LC 500h will also be used.

Added to the rumor is a production F-brand version of the LF-1, using the much-rumored twin-turbo V8 that we’ve been hearing since before the introduction of the LC coupe. In this incarnation, the LF-1 F would be putting out 661 horsepower and cost $150,000 USD, an amazing power-to-cost ratio when compared to the Lamborghini Urus with its 641 hp and $200,000 price tag.

(Bumping up the horsepower in this hypothetical engine is a smart idea — Lexus has fallen behind competitors in recent times, and could use the boost from a powertrain that outpaces the market average.)

Lexus is reportedly planning a high-performance crossover for reveal in 2020, with the intent to rival the Lamborghini Urus.

The vehicle is reported to be a new Lexus flagship platform, based on the LF-1 Limitless concept that debuted in January, according to Japanese publication Spyder7. Base models will reportedly be powered by the 3.5-liter, twin-turbo V-6 from the Lexus LS 500, retuned to make 424 horsepower (430 ps). This engine could reportedly join forces with two electric motors to produce even more power and boost fuel economy.

A high-performance "F" version of the crossover could allegedly be powered by the same 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V-8 expected to propel the rumored LC F. In the LF-1 F, as we'll call it, this engine will reportedly make 661 horsepower (670 ps), or enough to win the on-paper war with the 641-horsepower Lamborghini Urusby 20 hp. The LF-1 F is alleged to have the Lamborghini beaten on pricepoint, too, with a projected cost of around $150,000 USD to the Urus' $200,000.

This flagship model's premiere is claimed to be scheduled for 2020, and its market launch for 2021.
sounds like fun

Assuming this isn't a completely baseless rumor, it sounds like a winner. I don't think Lexus can really compete in the c63/m3 or e63/m5 segments very well because those cars have too much heritage and badge prestige behind them but the premium high performance SUV segment is still pretty new and a product like this could make a pretty big splash.

european me will say 500 is fast enough, but I guess gotta do 620-640hp version for the mags and lucky few in the USA where this costs $150k and not $300k like in most of Europe with crazy taxes.

Having 3 halo cars for this engine makes it far more palatable as a business case, too.

Would be an awesome wagon if they fixed the ride height and gave it a less rounded cargo hold. Who am I kidding? My opinion doesn't matter because I can't afford one.
Such good news. A great market to enter.
F all the things!!
Lexus needs this car now not in 2020!
Honestly if the production LQ-F have at least 80% from the LF-1 limitless with this 600+ hp I will take it anyday over the Urus
