2018 Lexus RC Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+

The 2018 Lexus RC has earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick+, the highest ranking awarded by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for crash test results.

The RC’s front crash prevention system was upgraded for 2018, improving that part of the test from an advanced rating to a superior rating. There is one caveat, however — only RCs without the premium headlight package are included in this recommendation. The triple-beam L headlights received a marginal grade for visibility.

I was disappointed with my triple beam LED headlights on my RC. Especially since it was an expensive option, that you would think would give you superior visibility. But I raised them up using the adjustment screws and the visibility is now much better and even better than in my '14 GS 350 F-Sport.
I still think my '06 and '12 LS and '13 GS were better because they had AFS. My '12 BMW X5 has them all beat though.
