Super GT Lexus LC Set for Appearance at DTM Series Finale This Weekend

In what can only be described as a racing crossover, a Lexus LC GT 500 race car from SUPER GT will be part of this weekend’s Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) series finale in Hockenheim this weekend:

Fans at Hockenheim will be given an impression of the spectacular SUPER GT cars, which generate approximately 620 hp, on all three days of the event. The Lexus LC500 and Nismo GT-R will both complete 30-minute tests on the Friday. They will then each spend 15 minutes lapping at race speed on both the Saturday and the Sunday. The appearance will be integrated in the official schedule for the event.

This guest appearance comes as DTM and Super GT move towards adopting the same regulations in 2019, which will open the door for direct competition between the two racing groups.

Former F1 driver Heikki Kovalainen will drive the Lexus LC 500 during this weekend’s presentation. Kovalainen currently races for the Lexus Team SARD in Super GT.

someday Lexus might follow Porsche (or AMG) and make a GT model (GT3 or GT2) for street driving. The Porsche GT3 (and GT3 RS) are fantastic cars to drive both on the street and the track, although the GT3 RS is a little uncomfortable for regular street driving. I am sure that the LC GT500 will compete well with the Germans. Looking good, Lexus, or as the young guys say "looks Dope!"
